چکیده
Abstract Carbon monitoring is critical for the reporting and verification of carbon stocks change. Remote sensing a tool increasingly used to estimate spatial heterogeneity, extent change within across various systems. We designate use term wet system interconnected wetlands, ocean, river streams, lakes ponds, permafrost, which are carbon-dense vital conduits throughout terrestrial aquatic sections cycle. reviewed studies that utilize earth observation improve our knowledge data gaps, methods, future research recommendations. To achieve this, we conducted systematic review collecting 1622 references screening them with combination text matching panel three experts. The search found 496 references, an additional 78 added by Our study considerable variability utilization remote global progress nine systems analyzed. highlighted routinely globally map in mangroves oceans, whereas seagrass, tidal marshes, rivers, permafrost would benefit from more accurate comprehensive maps extent. identified gaps twelve recommendations continue progressing increase cross scientific inquiry.

Monitoring Forests as Carbon Sinks Using Remote Sensing
The Kyoto Protocol intends to limit or reduce CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 (base year) levels and allows carbon emissions to be balanced by carbon sinks represented by vegetation (e.g. forests). The present paper is focused on three key aspects related to the capabilities of remote sensing data to help in monitoring forests as carbon sinks. The first one attends to find statis...
متن کاملSatellite Remote Sensing for Geologic Carbon Sequestration Field Monitoring
Carbon dioxide is one of the major greenhouse gases generated by human activities which, by virtue of its impact on global climate through “Greenhouse Warming”, are implicated in extreme environmental impacts such as more prevalent and more intense storms, bushfires, floods, droughts and heat waves. In order to constrain the growth of atmospheric CO2, Geologic Carbon Sequestration (GCS) has bee...
متن کاملHyperspectral Remote Sensing for Geologic Carbon Sequestration Field Monitoring
In order to constrain the growth of atmospheric CO2, Geologic Carbon Sequestration (GCS) has been proposed as one “clean coal” technology for mitigating the more extreme impacts of global warming. An important issue to ensure the successful storage of carbon dioxide in geologic sequestration sites is the ability to monitor these sites for possible leakage. More understanding of CO2 storage proc...
متن کاملMonitoring Geologic Carbon Sequestration with Radar Remote Sensing
Geologic Carbon Sequestration becomes an essential instrument which has been aimed for mitigation of global warming. More understanding of storage processes and assessing environmental, safety, and health impacts in the event of a leak to the atmosphere are certainly important. Therefore, monitoring is one of the answers enabling technologies for CO2 storage. It is expected to support multiple ...
متن کاملMonitoring forest carbon sequestration with remote sensing and carbon cycle modeling.
Sources and sinks of carbon associated with forests depend strongly on the management regime and spatial patterns in potential productivity. Satellite remote sensing can provide spatially explicit information on land cover, standage class, and harvesting. Carbon-cycle process models coupled to regional climate databases can provide information on potential rates of production and related rates ...
